Dr. Brian Day a Vancouver surgeon who supports expanding private health care has been affirmed as president-elect of the Canadian Medical Association, after another doctor took the unusual step of running against him...Day was confirmed as the association met in Charlottetown on Tuesday morning...At issue was the CMA's stand on private health care in Canada...Day owns a private clinic in B.C. and is an advocate for a private system to run alongside Canada's public health care....

The complete article has details of how Dr. Jack Burak ran against him unsuccessfully (and it is unusual for a person in this particular situation) because of his stand on private health care. We should all be disappointed with the Canadian Medical Association for choosing Dr. Brian Day as their president instead of Jack Burack.

How can it possibly be considered acceptable for the CMA to have a president who advocates loudly on behalf of private health care? I will be writing more on the topic. I feel very strongly that private health care in Canada is wrong. For now I wanted to put up the bare facts of the story.P
